From 28 August 2020 to 30 August 2020, the meet-up and workshop weekend for Lightpainter took place on the site of the former Grabowsee healing site. There was no sleep at the weekend, just lots of joy and finally breathtaking pictures.

Lightpainting Artist ZOLAQ organized the big Lightpainting Festival for the third time. Lightpainters from all countries were invited to participate in this meet-up and workshop weekend. Many of the contributions from other participants can easily be found under the hashtag: #LPF2020. But the “corona conditions” made the meeting a little more difficult. Due to the state of Brandenburg and its ordinance, only 50 participants were allowed for this type of event. So it was time to buy tickets quickly.
Those who received a ticket could look forward to an entertaining program. ZOLAQ’s team, consisting of Tabea, Maik and Bibi, started planning for the meet-up and workshop weekend months earlier. ZOLAQ regularly informed about the status of its planning in order to show transparents to its participants. In my view, this is not the normal case of an organiser. All participants and fellow readers had a very good idea of what to expect there.
On Friday at 13:00, ZOLAQ opened the gates for the first participants. The vast majority of participants slept on the premises either with a tent or caravan. Every hour, more participants gradually arrived.
After the opening speech and the organizational stuff, Friday at 18:00, the getting to know each other began at dinner. Under the motto of self-catering, everyone grilled their own piece of meat on the grill provided by ZOLAQ. I was positively surprised at how sedated it was on the grill. Everyone complied with COVID-19 hygiene regulations, even at the barbecue when it came to food.

With the complete sunset, the first workshops began on Friday as well as Saturday for beginners, orb, calligraphy, ornaments, freestyle, tube & model and if the weather had allowed us to also take night and star photography.
Large companies such as Ledlenser, Olympus, Rollei, Tamron and Canon-Drucker supported the festival with the latest equipment, which the participants were allowed to borrow free of charge during the festival.
With Nico, Carsten, Tobias I used the night to implement our ideas in lightpainting. It went really well. In daylight, we explored the rooms on the LostPlace site and created concepts for our lightpainting. At night we went into the processing of our ideas without a break. One after the other we played down the rooms and the ruins of the former cathedral. There were also ideas like on the assembly line. Only sleep was clearly short at the weekend.
The usual group picture for the festival of ZOLAQ was created on Saturday. Each participant was asked to participate in the group image using the tool of their choice. The direction instructions came from ZOLAQ. In the second attempt we had the picture in the box.
47 participants created the following image with a recording time of about 13 minutes. The picture is shrill, extremely colorful and full of joy.
It describes what lightpainting is: joy.
